Oudh is one of the most expensive ingredients that are used in perfume to give a strong, musky fragrance that lasts for a longer period. Oudh is a wood-like substance made from the wood of the Aquilaria Tree. When the wood of the tree gets infected with a parasitic mold, it produces a dark precious and fragrant resin which is termed as Oudh. Oudh is also known as “Liquid Gold” in the Arab World due to its rare availability.
Perfume is a liquid with a pleasant natural smell that is made from oils, taken from flowers or spices and often used on the skin to give an agreeable fragrance on a human body which is usually seen in the liquid form.
Difference between Oudh and Ordinary Perfume
As per the Islamic religion, Oudh is considered to be much better than ordinary perfumes as they do not contain any alcoholic content and lasts for longer. They are affordable than other Perfumes because they are concentrated and packed in small bottles which will last for several weeks or months in the case of a regular user.
The major difference between Oudh and Ordinary Perfume is that, Oudh can leave stain on your clothes, hence a small drop is swiped directly on to your pulse points such as inside of the wrist, inside the elbow points, behind the ears, back of the neck and few other parts, which is treated very powerful so a little goes a long way and they need to be rubbed gently with the index finger for a lasting fragrance. Oudh has no side effects or does not cause any irritation to one’s skin and has got healing effects. Whereas perfume is sprayed directly onto one’s clothes, which does not result in any, discolor or stain. While the ordinary perfumes contain alcohol that evaporates quite fast, loses power and the odor ceases to exist. Due to this reason, most of them are not safe to be directly applied to the skin. Oudh lasts for a long time, as body heat only intensifies its smell, making the fragrance stronger.
Perfumes are adulterated with chemicals to provide a smooth scent such as ethyl, chloride, acetone and many more. Whereas Oudh is an ingredient used in the perfume which consists of essential oils extracted from botanical sources, hence Oudh is said to be chemical-free. One needs to always hydrate their skin before they apply perfume so that the scent stays for more time.
